Dog Trainer Did Not Complete Training Plan

Card image cap

I paid for dog training services. It was 4 trainings at around $600. I was required to pay upfront. The trainer has been difficult from the start. He hasn’t tackled the problem items agreed upon, been late, missed trainings. Now, we are a month after when we were supposed to have completed our training plan and he refuses to respond to emails or calls and he hasn’t even completed the number of training sessions agreed upon.

I’m wondering if it’s reasonable (and worth it) to recoup the full cost of the training in small claims. My dog is no better off as he’s been so sporadic with the scheme. Often citing personal issues. I have the agreed upon signed training outline and contract. I also have the emails citing his lack of response. His website phone number isn’t even in service. I do know of a way to contact him as there is a number than gets answered (unfortunately not by him but his partner).

Is this the type of case that’s worth small claims or is 600 not really worth it?
