Estranged Parent Took $2k Out Of Account She's Conservator Of

Several years ago two of my kids were in a car crash with their birth mom. Both were awarded insurance money, but the younger got significantly more because he was injured and needed surgery. After medical bills were paid out the remaining funds were put into bank accounts to be held until they each turned 21. At the time they were living with said parent 50% of the time, so we didn't fight when the court made her the conservator.

We were told by the court that the boys could petition to use the funds early for certain expenses, such as college fees, a vehicle, etc. Neither one has touched the money as they wanted the safety net when they came of age.

Fast forward, they are 19 and 20 and have been no contact with her for about a year and have been solely living with us for almost three years. About three months ago she made contact with me to tell us she had filed some paperwork with the court because she was supposed to check in once a year with them about the accounts and hadn't done so in a few years. She sent both boys copies of the court filing including the account information with a "current" balance.

Today the younger one received a summons for an "Order To Show Cause" "'mom' is ordered to assist before this court to show cause for why you should not be found in contempt of court and removed as conservator for withdrawing $2000 without court approval from Protected Persons restricted account. 'son ' most also attend the Show Cause hearing."

MY QUESTION IS: Do we have any options for getting the money Back from her? Can we sue her? Have her arrested? Obviously we're going to request she be removed as conservator and myself or Dad be named instead, but I'm sure she won't show up to court, is there anything else we can do?
