Ex Employer Wrote A Check That Bounced
Located in Boulder county CO - As the title states my ex employer wrote me a check a day after required final check payout. I had given notice that I needed to be paid two weeks after quitting but from what I read on google employer had 14 days after written notice to make payment. I was in between jobs so I ended up paying off credit cards that I had been living on right away upon receiving the check. Two days later it bounced leaving my account negative $400 (the check was for $900 but I had some other money in my checking account). Employer has a history of late payments/questionable and threatening behavior.
I immediately contacted ex employer and investors and made them aware of the situation asking them to rectify it or I would take it to the labor board. When I was met with no response I contacted the labor board in CO but that can take a long time to process and I am frustrated with the overdraft fees I have already accrued. I get paid from my current job tomorrow so I won’t be in overdraft in my checking much longer however I don’t think I should be the one to pay the fees I have so far from this situation.
Myself and two former coworkers are dealing with this and are unsure if we should bother with lawyers as we’re afraid that we might end up paying more in legal fees than the amount of these checks.
Any advice is appreciated thanks!
