Father Doesn't Have A Will, Has A Lot Of Debt

Card image cap

My father is not doing well, maybe nearing the end of his life.

He is widowed. He still has a mortgage, car payment, medical debt, and loans. I don't know his entire financial state or if he’s even current on his bills, but he's I know he has depleted his retirement accounts.

He doesn't have a will. I'm concerned if he passes soon we will be stuck scrambling to figure this out while debt collectors are knocking at his door.

Would a will help in this situation? Would it be better to petition for financial conservatorship before he passes? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
