Fiancé Poisoned Pets

My finance poisoned my pets with antifreeze. In September, my older dog started showing rapid decline from aging. With in a few weeks, he ended up being put down because his symptoms got so bad.

Fast forward, I find searches (40+ individual searches) on his laptop about poisoning “jack russell with antifreeze” “jack russell licking antifreeze” “jack russell has diarrhea after licking antifreeze” -my dogs breed. The searches were from before my older dog died and continued after. I immediately got out of the situation and took my younger dog to the vet, where it was diagnosed with acute kidney failure. We did two weeks of intensive fluid therapy. The dog’s levels have improved. I also have a cat, and her bloodwork also shows she ingested poison, but not as much as the dog.

I have contact my local law enforcement and sent them screenshots of all of the searches. They told me to be patient but they are taking it seriously.

Praying for some justice in this situation. I’m anxious, as all evidence is circumstantial. By the time I got to the vet with the 2nd dog, there was no antifreeze in its system, but kidney damage was done.

This has been extremely traumatic for me, but I am thankful my two remaining pets are okay.

Should I seek an attorney or just allow police to handle? The police told me that if charged he may have to pay me back some of the vet expenses?
