Fighting State Senator In Court

In RI, I am currently in a boundary dispute with my neighbor a state senator. I don't want to go to far into the story but pretty much we bought a home, had it surveyed, went to do a addition and he blocked us and toke us to court claiming 15 feet of our property through adverse and aquiensence. That being said there was a row of bushes we had to cut to gain access to our driveway that was apparently against a restraining order the judge put on them. We were held in contempt and now have to pay attorney fees to them. We had a second hearing to see if we had any damages to the trees (they wanted 120,000$ for damages) but we won that, still ordered to pay there attorney fees for that motion and there arborist they hired for a ridiculous fee compared to the one we hired and paid for.
Anyway all that being said my question is......... This standing senator, who is being represented, legally, by another senator who retired this past year were both in office and voted this judge into office years ago. Is there any conflict of interest there or am I just crazy and it doesn't work like that? Thank you for your time reading this, Take care
