Fired For Being Pregnant? (usa Florida)

Card image cap

Hello!

I live in Florida. I started working at a rather large company in August 2024, I found out I was pregnant in October 2024. I’ve been working there ever since. I did tell them I was pregnant as soon as I needed to due to needing some flexibility with appointments and sickness. They were accommodating. They told me, just like company policy, and hours taken off for sick / appointments will need to be made up so I would come on the weekend or whatever needed to be done to make up my 40 hours. I have amazing performance, never once been commented about that. I have never had a written warning or verbal for ANYTHING including attendance. I called out sick on Monday and today my supervisor called me firing me for calling out sick then and previously, even though I had made up the hours each time. I told him is there anything we can do to figure out a better course of action because I need this job to pay bills and for this baby? I asked if we can adjust my schedule to have a weekday off to attend appointments and work one weekend day. I work in a call center essentially, 8-4 Monday through Friday. He did not give me any alternative and also clearly stated it had nothing to do with my performance at work. This is ruining my life, I am not 21 weeks pregnant without a job and I’ve worked so hard. I got no prior notice that I shouldn’t be taking sick time or anything, all I’ve ever been told is “it’s fine just make up the time”. It truly came out of the blue.

Do I have any legal recourse? Should I seek an employment lawyer? I make really good money and I’m about to struggle heavily, also no one wants to hire a pregnant woman.

What do I do here.

There’s nothing else I could have been fired for besides pregnancy related issues? Should I have been accommodated or spoken to or gotten a warning or anything at all?
