Five Months After Laying Me Off, Last Employers Still Owe Me $1.2k In Back Wages/damages. Is It Worth Pursuing Legal Recourse? (ohio)

In mid-October, I was laid off by my previous employers. I was the executive chef for their event venue, and 95% of my work was catering weddings that booked the space through the owner's separate bridal company.

At the time, they owed back wages due to 'bride contesting a payment' (or something they claimed) but committed to making it right eventually. And for a bit, they did, until they learned i got a new job.

Currently, they still owe me almost $1.2k left in wages and damages (Per Ohio Law, Title 41, Section 4113.15, paragraph (B), there are damages automatically assigned at 30 days past when a paycheck is due) and say they won't be able to pay until late spring/early summer. However, i know that capital has been moving through the business (renovations to the space, equipment sales and purchases, wedding deposits for the upcoming season).

Is it worth contacting an employment/labor lawyer?

If there are any Ohio lawyers here, does the above provision re: damages only proc once?

Other suggestions or thoughts?
