Forgot About My Medical Card When I Went To Purchase A Firearm, Now Being Charged With A 3rd Degree Felony. Any Advice?

For background, I have had my UT medical marijauna card since Oct 2023, it was set to expire same month in 2024. I had stopped using for about 3-4 months around June because I was searching for a new job an I knew most jobs wouldn’t hire you if you tested positive regardless of having the card. I had pawned my Glock 21 in September and missed a payment so when I went back to get it they had already sold it to someone else, so I figured I would just buy another pistol they had on hand. I figured because I had not been smoking it did not make me an active user so when I was filling out the background check I marked no because I had not smoked in over 3 months. My background check was placed on hold and I couldn’t figure out why because I’d never had this problem before. A few days passed and it had come back denied because I had an active med card which automatically makes you a user. Fast forward to December I get a call from local police regarding my background check and falsely marking the answer on the form. I told them that I had not been using because of my new job and did not think about my card until after I received my background check. I asked multiple times before answering if I was being charged and I was told no, until the end of the call when I was told that it is up to the district attorney wether they would like to pursue charges or not. I just found out last week that I am being charged with falsifying information on a background check(3rd degree Felony) which has the potential to go federal due to it being a federal form. Does anyone think this case is winnable/ or able to be pled down to a misdemeanor? Or any advice helps, really just trying to avoid a felony on my record. Thanks in advance
