Friend Was Married 23 Years Ago In A Sham Marriage By Their Mother

Hey everyone. A friend of mine in Texas was married to a man when she was only 17 years old. It was set-up by her mother to keep the man from getting deported. After three months the man left and she's never seen him again.

She was never divorced and is finally trying to go through the process to separate herself from him officially.

As far as I know, the man is living in another country in South America and is married to another woman.

My friend is having a hard time finding representation. Her income is below the poverty line so she doesn't have much money to spare. Her only interaction with a judge recently was to tell her she didn't try hard enough to find her husband. They also are hassling her by questioning how she could be married for so long and not have accumulated assets with this man. They're worried about his rights and are saying now that she'll need to hire a lawyer for him.

Can anyone point me towards some low-income resources that I can share with my friend to help her out?
