Gas Company Says Stove Is Leaking, Landlord Disagrees.

I rented a new house here in California and noticed when using the Broil function on my stove it had an odor of gas coming out of the stove vents from the back. It only smells when I use the broil but I dont smell it when using the regular oven top or bake inside the oven. I called the gas company they came and tested it and said there meter shows 1-3% of leak when it should be 0-0.5% at most. Landlord came to check it out and said he doesnt see anything wrong with it and its a brand new stove and I should just break it in.

Am I just overthinking this? I have children and dont want to risk any health complication over time and at the same time I dont want to get on my new landlords nerves. What would you do? What rights do I have?
