Got A Ticket In A State I Don’t Live In That Came With A Mandatory Court Date. Only Problem Is I Do T Have A Car.
On a trip to Illinois this weekend. ( I’m typing this from a hotel room) I failed to get into the left lane while passing a cop on the shoulder who had his lights on. It was a dumb mistake and I accepted the consequences. The issue I’m facing is that I don’t have a car. The car I was driving at the time was a rental paid for by a student organization through my collage that I’m a part of. I don’t have a car of my own and, I don’t have a reliable way to get to this court date. I plan on calling the court and asking what my options are in regards to my inability to physically attend. The cop told me that it’s likely that they will let me attend over zoom, or let a lawyer to attend in my place. I’m just wondering what the actual likelihood of that is. Honestly I’ve been stressed out about this since it happened so in reality I’m just trying to calm my nerves some. Thank you all for any and all help with this I really appreciate it.
