Help Regarding Financial Debt

Hello everyone,

I am feeling very nervous and scared. I sponsored a friend who came to the U.S. on an F1 visa for his studies, and I listed myself as his financial supporter during his visa application process. He completed his studies but later got involved in various issues, including receiving tickets for rash driving, a DWI, accumulating almost $10,000 in credit card debt, and leaving the U.S. without resolving these issues. He also left with a suspended license and unresolved tickets from different states.

Now I am worried. Since I was listed as his financial supporter, will I be held responsible for his actions, debts, or other issues? Please help me understand the situation and what steps I can take.
