Help Renouncing Israeli Citizenship
I am in a tricky situation in that I very much want to renounce my Israeli citizenship as a form of protest, but don’t have the documents necessary to do it according to the Israeli embassy guidelines.
My parents got me a citizenship when I was born and they are both citizens of Israel. I am a dual citizen of US and Israel, but have lived in the US my entire life. According to the Israeli embassy guidelines, I need to go to an embassy with my 1. Israeli Passport 2. Letter of explanation 3. Evidence of US citizenship + residence 4. proof that I had my IDF service deferred.
My parents claim they lost my Israeli passport and also refuse to give me any documentation related to the deferment of my IDF service when I was 18.
It seems like it will be equally difficult to get a replacement passport or to prove that I had my military service deferred without the original documents.
What are my options? Any advice at all would be appreciated
