Home Title/abstract Issues

Tl;dr: Home purchase title issues. Do I wait, or do I move on? And how do I avoid this in the future?

I'm working on purchasing a home in Oklahoma. I've been approved for a mortgage, I made an offer on a house. The offer was accepted, I paid for an appraisal and an inspection, and was told all was moving forward, and we would close on a given date. When that date loomed close, the closing was pushed back, I was told the abstract had been lost, and that it would just be "another week". That week flew by, and I was told again "one more week". Questions asked of my real estate agent were brushed off, I was told "I will find out" but that never happened. I finally demanded the title company's phone number, and I'm able to get ahold of them, and they finally tell me what's up: the legal description is wrong, and it's a 3-6 month process to fix it, during which time nobody can buy the house. It's been sold more than once with the incorrect legal description.

Question is this: Should I wait for this? Or should I try to get what money back I can and start over? I was kept in the dark about this until I contacted the title company myself, my agent kept saying "maybe next week" and was apparently also being kept in the dark by the listing agent.

Edit: added location
