Hr’s Vague Response What Are My Options To Escalate?
I’m dealing with a frustrating and stressful situation at work and need some advice on how to escalate.
I reported multiple incidents to HR, including: Public humiliation, sexual harassment (inappropriate comments about my appearance), intimidation (sitting next to me without saying a word just watching me, aggressively crumbling paper cracking knuckles the day after I called out this coworker for the public humiliation.)
I had a call with HR to report these issues, but when I followed up for an update, their response was vague:“Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any additional details outside of the update you received from your manager. We were able to conduct the necessary steps to address the matter after I engaged your leadership. Please feel free to connect with your manager should you have additional questions.”
I don’t know what this means. Does this mean the case is closed? How do I know if they actually investigated anything? The person I reported is still working here, and I haven’t been told what resolution (if any) occurred. To make things worse, my manager went on vacation, and before she left, I tried to ask about her meeting with HR. She was vague too and said she can’t speak on what’s going to happen or if anything has happened.
My Questions: 1. What are my options for escalation? Should I follow up with HR again, or is that a waste of time at this point? 2. Should I go to the EEOC or consult a lawyer? I’ve documented everything so far, including dates, times, and details of the incidents. 3. Has anyone else dealt with vague HR responses? How do you hold them accountable?
I feel like I’m stuck, and HR isn’t taking this seriously. Any advice on what to do next?
