I Just Got Arrested For The Dumbest Reason

Card image cap

A few weeks ago I traded my Pokemon card (1500) for another Pokemon card (1000) plus 400 cash, an ETB and another 90 card. Keep in mind, I made this deal at a local card shop. Today I met with a buyer at a Starbucks across the city who I’ve been messaging on Facebook Marketplace. The texts were strange, often with long pauses and robotic responses. I went inside the Starbucks that we planned to meet at and when I got to the table to make the exchange, I was arrested by the police. Turns out the card was stolen and I was arrested for “Possession of Stolen Item”. Mind you I got this card through a card shop, I couldn’t know that the card was stolen. I know I shouldn’t have but I was nervous and talked about my side of the story and answered the police’s questions without a lawyer. At this point, they retrieved the card back to the owner, meaning I lost the value of the card, with NO COMPENSATION. I also dropped another 2,000 on a lawyer. This means I’ve lost 3,000 over a situation that shouldn’t even be my fault to begin with. I’m so fucking tired and frustrated right now. They said the investigation will continue and dropped my charges. There is no way cops can make assumptions like this and arrest a youth just like that. They had no evidence I was the one who stole the card - I only had possession of it. And I feel like the whole set up thing violated my rights. The whole time this shit was done at a public Starbucks and I feel humiliated as shit. I don’t even know if I am even allowed sue the cops for making false accusations or sue the store for selling me a stolen card and making me go through this. Lawyers and Cops of Reddit, what’s the best thing to do in this situation? (I hope to make my loss of 3,000 back).
