I Paid My Car Payment Twice And Nobody Will Help Me. I Live Paycheck To Paycheck.
On December 10 I received a email from Capital One (they handle my car payment). After paying via autopay for the last year and a half, I was shocked to learn that they would no longer accept payments from my bank account and that I needed to make other payment arrangements. I immediately called them and was told that they don't know why, but my account will no longer accept payments from my bank. I called my bank who clearly stated that my account was in good standing there were no holds on the account and that their was more than enough money to cover the car payment.Another call to Capital One and They insist it's the bank. Either way I've got to make my car payment. I again ask my choices. Pay over the phone with a third party with an $8.95 service fee. I asked about getting the fee waived as this is in no way my fault, no luck. I also wanted to confirm that my autopay would not go through as scheduled. No ma'am we've been through this Capital One will not accept your bank account number. I was told. I was so upset when I looked at my bank account the next day! Not only had they deducted the debit card payment they also took out my regularly scheduled auto pay amount. After several calls the best thing they could do is mail me a refund which takes 6-8 weeks! I need that money now. Is there anything I can do about it?
