I Want To Put My Ex On Parenting Plan But Does That Mean I Also Need To File For Child Support (georgia)

My ex and I were never married and have a 3-year-old child. I’d like to establish a court-ordered parenting plan due to ongoing inconsistencies and communication issues. However, I’m wondering if doing so would require me to also file for child support.

Currently, he pays an amount we agreed on when our child was younger, but I’m worried the court might lower it. I don’t know how child support is calculated, but he owns his own business and pays himself around $72k annually.

For context, we live in Georgia, and while he’s on the birth certificate, he hasn’t gone through the legitimization process yet.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
