Illinois Accidental Death.

Father In law was killed while working on a car, it fell on him. The homeowners notified their insurance and started a gofund me ( they were family friends) we're all very devastated at this point, he is going to be dearly missed. My mother on law is on a fixed income with a teen daughter at home. Bills are hard enough as is, and he was the main source of income. I just talked to the homeowners and they said the Insurance isn't gonna fight it because of what happened. How does this work? Do we need to send the costs to the insurance (funeral etc) do we get a lawyer since she has her Income cut and has to live the rest of her life like this? Were never gonna be whole again, this man was a big part of our lives. Tyia.
