Im Being Accused Of Stealing Money From Work.

Card image cap

hi! so basically i’m on the younger spectrum of employees at my job. i work at a restaurant. im a hostess/busser, and i work with some cousins and my sister there. in the past at my job ive seen cases where the head chef finds a bone to pick with an employee and he does not let go of it no matter what this usually results in the employee quitting/getting fired. if the chef needs a motive to fire people he claims they stole money. i know 3 people personally, two were my family members. who this has happened to and everybody in the workplace knows it’s a lie. now a few weeks ago i went into work with my sister. when the head chef was passing out tips he asked me “i gave you j’s (my sister) right” i said no because they had not. he looked at me with an ugly look and later in the night they explained that they’d probably find them and she’d get paid regardless. eventually she was paid, but this whole ordeal made it sound like i took them and i was being insincere. now about two weeks ago i heard about a nice christmas bonus they were giving out. i never recived this. i told t (head chef) about it and he said he gave it to me then he swore the other manager gave me it. i promise i didn’t recive anything. i’m afraid of being fired due to this whole situation. i want to go to university and get scholarships and im afraid of the backlash i could receive from this. should i file a police report? talk to a lawyer?

PS: all of the times T caught people “stealing” it was after a disagreement. and he never made a report or call the cops. we know for a fact he used to steal while boxes of prime rib from the restaurant and sell them to other restaurants. we also know he has a habit of using the owners credit for personal stuff.
