Insanely High Utility Bill - Landlord Tenant

Hello all!
I am in situation where I feel that I am being taken advantage of by my landlord. I have lived in this home since May of 2024 and typically paid around $50 a month for electricity (about $130 total split between four roommates). However, in December, our bill hiked to $704.08 total, or $176.02 per person. We objected to the increase and asked for someone to address the situation. My landlord said that we had increased usage and there was also an increase in the rates with GA power. However, we have not increased our usage. The meter is showing over a double increase in usage, but we have not changed any behaviors. The next month in January, the bill rose again to $1500 and now in February is $811. The landlord says they have had multiple people check the meter, but I have never seen anyone. Moreover, her father told my roommate that there had actually not been anyone check it because it costs $160 per visit. I am not sure what to do and my landlord is threatening to evict me if I do not pay the utility. Any recommendations or ideas?
Thank you in advance.
