Insurance Is Denying My Medication

Card image cap

I have ankolosing spondalytus with is arthritis of the spine. If it’s not treated with a medication it can progress causing the spine to fuse together basically causing you to be immobile and in lots of pain and can lead to increased risk of heart disease and stroke

,Recently my insurance has denied me coverage of the medication I need as I just turned 26 and needed to switch off my parents insurance plan. They’ve denied me coverage for 5 weeks and I haven’t had any AS symptoms for 10 years and led a very active life now I can’t do much activity anymore. It looks like insurance is about to cover my medication but they’re only covering for me to take the medication every two weeks instead of one week.

2 years ago I had a medical advisory board say (under a different insurance) that it was medically necessary for me to be on the medication and that the decision was final. I have symptoms immedielty when I am not on the medication weekly. I haven’t gotten x rays recently but if I do and they show a progression of the disease when I’m on two medications a week and I go to the appeals board again for this insurance and they deny my medication is there any legal action I can take?

I’m not swimming in money so I can’t afford thousands of dollars of attorney fees but this disease progresses so if I don’t treat it now it’s going to wreck my health for the rest of my life causing me to be bed ridden so I’m exploring the legal avenue here. Does anyone have any advice? Or is this even something I can pursue legally
