Insurance Problem

Card image cap

Wasn’t sure what to put for the flair. So I recently sold a car on OfferUp. First time selling a car and I’m dumb for it but the guy said he forgot his ID and he would send a pic when he got home. But he signed the pink slip and release of liability and transfer online on my phone. I don’t think he put the right address right after.

Anyways insurance company recently called, and said we are liable for a car crash he recently got in, but they don’t know we sold it. which I didn’t know was possible after signing release of liability. And the guy never registered the van under his name, nor ever sent me a picture of his ID. They found us because the license plate is still under my name.

I have been calling and texting the guy but he’s been dodging my calls saying he will call later. He left a voicemail that says ““This is Rocky. I don't appreciate you calling people to hunt me down. Joseph Unless your lawyer Insurance agency You shipping peoples lives, but looking for me My phone is off at the moment because I got….. Because it is…” he paused bc he almost told me he got into an accident.

Now from here I don’t know what to do. I never got into the crash but now idk if he changed ownership at the DMV. I’m freaking out that I will get into trouble. What should I do? What can I do legally? And how do I get out of this?
