Jury Duty: Medical Condition That Would Impact Ability To Serve

Card image cap

I have Jury duty tomorrow and I have a medical condition which might prevent me from being able to serve. I know I should have contacted the court earlier through email or something but I honestly didn't even think about the fact that this condition would be a potential issue until now.

Without getting into TMI I need bathroom breaks multiple times an hour, and wouldn't be able to sit in the court room for very long at a time. I don't know if this is an issue, I've never had Jury Duty before, but I assume they might not be okay with me leaving the Jury box so often.

What is the best way to make the court aware of my condition to see if I need to be excused or if I can have accommodations?

Is this something they'll ask during Voir Dire? During that process will I just have a chance to bring it up even if they don't directly ask me? Should I call right before my service time? (they're closed now so I'd have to wait till morning.)

TIA!!
