Just Found Out My Aunt Stole Most Of My Tax Refund Last Year

When I was 18, I was working my first full-time job and living with my aunt. During tax season (2024), she offered to do my taxes since she does them as a side business. I trusted her and I let her do it, I was young and didn’t know how taxes worked. But the first red flag was her depositing the refund into her account instead of mines. She told me I only got a refund back of $200, and I believed her.
It wasn’t until yesterday, I was doing my own taxes for this year and found out my refund last year was actually $614 via the IRS website.
On top of that, I was on her car insurance, and for a year and a half, she was making me overpay. I was paying $330 a month when the actual cost was only $130. When I confronted her, she claimed the extra $100 was for rent, but she never told me I was paying rent. She always just said, “The car insurance bill is $330 this month.” And even if I was paying rent, there’s still another $100 unaccounted for.
That insurance situation was last year and I forgave her for it, didn’t really make a big deal. So I decided to just quietly moved out her house. We still keep in contact. But after this situation I don’t know what to think. She has been scamming me this whole time. It’s in the past but I feel I shouldn’t let this go. I don’t know if I should just completely cut all ties or just confront her about this. Or maybe take legal action.
