Landlord Wants To Kick Me Out Of My Place This January Even Though The Lease Expires May 31
21 M American exchange student living in Paris, FR 5iè. My landlord sent me this message (using aliases to preserve anonymity):
Bonjour George, À new situation has come about for us Smiths : my husband has had a couple of strokes and is still in the hospital as of today . However we are going to need to have our son Pierre nearby, which means we will be needing to have him stay in the studio. I am sure you can find another place to stay with the help of Micefa as they will soon be receiving their students for the second semester and lots of housing is now available with this turnover of students. You may of course stay until this month is up but from January on we will need you to depart. Thank you and your parents for understanding the situation, Kind regards, Jane Smith
She sent me this december 20, but did not receive the message until yesterday as I had been on a different sim card. What are my rights? This was just in text form not an official notice, and I'm pretty sure my place is unfurnished. The lease type is "contrat de location" and as I mentioned ends may 31. I wanna stay in this place its a great location, but if i have to go I have to go.. Did she give me enough notice? Should I start looking for another place. Should I lawyer up? Any help is appreciated.
