Landlord Won't Tell Me Their Real Name. Is This Legal?

This is such a bizarre situation. (Colorado, USA)
The three players here are me, the property manager, and the "landlord." All my communications go through the property manager-- I contacted her to view and sign the lease agreement, her name is on the lease, and I have literally never spoken to the person who she refers to as the landlord. She's also the person who appears in court when shit has gone south with tenants previously. She mentions that the actual landlord is a big scary lawyer who lives a town over and has harsh opinions on how the building should be run, and she'll say things like "I don't want to raise your rent; the landlord does." She has mentioned this mystery landlord "prefers not to be known" and that just makes me so uncomfortable.
I'm pretty sure the property manager is just lying to keep us from getting mad at her when she makes changes. And truthfully, our renting relationship has been really great and I haven't had an unsolvable problem with her. But...
This woman is my landlord, is she not??? Why does she think she can pretend she's not?
Do I have any legal right to know about the existence of this mystery person or to call her out on this? I'm just thinking about the future and wondering whether this can bite me in the ass at all.
