Legal Advice On Tenancy?

Hey all! My bf and I currently rent a basement apartment in Ontario. It’s a fixed lease. But there has been nothing but issues with this unit. During the summer there was a drainfly infestation, in September a pipe burst in our bathroom, the breakers broke causing our dryer to not work for 3-4 weeks, and now a pipe is leaking and causing one of those water bubbles in the paint. The other day I came home and found a notice from the city on our door that said the landlord doesn’t have a building permit for the entirety of our unit, and a portion of the upstairs unit. We want out. Is there anything we can do to break the lease without consequences on our end? We can’t find any information about our landlord online, or his wife (the house is in her name).
