Local Pd False Acuse My Brother Of Murder, Then Release His Name To The Public

earlier this week on jan. 7, a 18yr girl lost her life during a gang related shooting down our street. later that night cops from different agencies raided our apartment and arrested my brother thinking he was one of the 2 juveniles involved. We didn't think much of it at the time since my brother was at work(6am - 6pm), the shooting took place around 3pm. It was obvious he was not involved. Next day my mother went over to the police station to show them my brother's location on his phone , also cops went over to his work place to talk to his employer and supervisor and make sure he wasnt lying. Cops told my mom it was fine but they had to keep him in jail bc of a gun they found in his room( not homicide related) and that he was only getting charged for that.

Next day(2 days after the shooting) news articles about the suspects were being seen everywhere, local news, newspaper, Facebook, etc. One of the 2 names released it was my brother's name, not just that but they mentioned things like "he was seeing fleeing the scene on foot" when he was nowhere near town. People in town think it was actually him and we have been getting a lot of hate posts, some even post his name and our address. My Gf is paranoid thinking something is gonna happen to us. My younger brother says he gets pointed at by the neighbors whenever he takes out the trash outside, he hasn't gone to school since bc my mother is afraid something will happen to him.

My guess is that they just want to show to the public that they solved the case so people wont be afraid but we dont agree by the way the police department handled the situation, the way they released his name in connection to the homicide when he had nothing to do with it is so wrong. Is there anything we can do legally if they dont fix their mistake?
