Lunch Or Punishment
Throwaway, So I work for a unionized hospital system as a 3rd shift X-ray and Ct tech. Im the only one scheduled for this shift and this being a stroke center we are usually really busy. On an average night I’m doing upwards of 30+ exams in my 10 hrs and it can get pretty hectic. As such I don’t really have time for lunch breaks. Well, a new rule is being put in place saying a 30 min break is now mandatory and if not taken, you’ll either have to come in 30 minutes early or leave 30 min late to make up for this time. As you can imagine, this fucks me over pretty badly since I really have no choice but to either A. Cause Patients to lose quality and timely care due to taking a lunch and then get very behind on exams. Or B. Have to stay late/come in early for a “lunch” that I won’t even get paid for. This just seems very unethical and I wanna know if there’s anything I can do.
