Marvin Case In California With Unwed Partners Where One Recently Passed

Card image cap

My “step father” recently passed. He and my mother never married, so, we cannot rightly inherit without a will. Thus far we’ve found no will.

They were together for over 20 years and for the last 10 years I’ve been taking care of him.

His death was very sudden. I had been taking care of him 24/7 and went home for a breather and he passed.

My mother uncovered trust funds, for him, over $5mil. They have recently been liquidated but as of his DOD it was over $5mil that we are aware of, in addition to several farms.

Is this worth pursuing? I just want my mother to be taken care of
