Massachusetts Car Was Towed From Designated Parking In Apartment Complex
I live in an apartment complex in Massachusetts which has a designated area for first come first serve parking. My car is registered with the apartment complex and has the associated sticker. Inspection is up to date and it is properly registered with the state.
I walked out of my apartment today after not using my car for the weekend to find it was not in the parking lot. I called local police and found out it had been towed due to not having a state registration sticker on the license plate. This is my fault. My issue is with how the my complex handled this.
I understand them surveying the lot to see cars that are not registered with the complex (outsiders who are not renters). But it appears they had it towed for missing the state sticker. I don't understand what reason they have to police this. I wish they had let me know they had it towed so I could have handled it right away, instead of finding out a few days later and paying a larger storage fee. I am calling them tomorrow. After I will proceed to pay to get my car back and then straight to RMV for a new sticker.
My question is, how should I handle this? Is it worth taking up a fight with my apartment complex? Or should I just take the L, get the sticker, pay the fee, and move on? Thank you.
