Medical Malpractice?

Hello.

I was sick with pneumonia and was prescribed a bunch of antibiotics, steroids, cough meds, etc. I was given a referral for a chest x-ray if i was not getting better.

I developed sharp pain and clicking in my ribs and went to go get the chest x-ray. At this point I had one more day of antibiotics and was experiencing new pain.

I went to this urgent care where the doctor blew me off entirely. I told them I had a fever for 3 days. I let them know that I was tired and in a lot of pain and unable to work. I let them know I was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. All of the important stuff. They did the chest xray and said it was unremarkable.

The urgent care doctor told me “go finish your antibiotics and feel better”. Again, I had one more day and I was not at all feeling better. The doctor did not prescribe me anything to help suppress my cough, help raise my oxygen, help my breathing, or addressed my pain. I looked at the doctor and said, “I really hope you are taking me seriously and not brushing this under the rug. I am in so much pain and I don’t know what to do. I am miserable.” I left with no answers or help.

A few days pass and I’m still in so much pain and was not getting better, so I went to see a PCP. They prescribed me pain meds, cough meds, and had me get another x-ray.

And guess what? My rib was broken! I highly suspect my rib was broken when I went into the urgent care the second time when I wasn’t getting better because the pain was 100% from my rib.

So here is my problem:

Either they completely missed my broken rib on the x-ray, or maybe it wasn’t broken. However, when I looked at my chart and visit summary, they said I was NOT experiencing shortness of breath, pain, limited activity, tenderness, etc. None of that is accurately documented or at all what I reported.

OR

My rib broke after that appointment as a result from coughing so hard. Had the urgent care given me proper treatment to suppress my cough, a broken rib could have been prevented. However, I’m pretty certain my rib was broken when I got there.

The urgent care site says that they can treat broken bones and illnesses, but they did neither for me.

What do I do? I’m honestly pretty traumatized from the whole thing because I’ve never experienced pain like that before and this process has been a nightmare.
