Merry Christmas, Dealing With A Possible Insurance Scammer?
My elder parent was driving in a parking lot and heard a scream, they stopped. An elderly woman had fallen at the curb, having not been able to lift her leg up (lymphedema) My parent recorded their interaction and made sure that the woman was okay, and she said yes. Then my parent asked to clarify if they had been hit, the woman clearly stated my parents car never touched her, 3 times clearly stated in the recording.
My parent is a sweetheart and gave their number to the woman to call today and let them know how they are doing
The woman now claims "my thumbs are hurt, and I fell because I thought you were going to hit me", "can I have your insurance information to pay, Medicaid won't" My parent is now telling this stranger on the phone "I'll pay your bills; I don't think my insurance will pay since my car never touched you" I told them to hang up.
I think it's ridiculous to think my parent should pay when it was not their fault.
I told them both to call the store they were in and make them aware of the fall, and have any cams pulled and go from there; but that my parent won't be paying.
What do we do?
