Missed Court 30 Years Ago

So I was arrested in Boston for possession of marijuana in 1995. I was a small town kid who had just moved there and was way in over my head. Five days later I was arrested again. I was homeless and strung out. A few days after that I OD’d and ended up hospitalized. My friends from home realizing I was going to die if I stayed in Boston came up two days later and took me home. I knew I had skipped the court date but honestly at the time didn’t care. I had to leave. It never really came up again except once at the Canadian border in 2001. Post 9/11. But nothing happened. Flash forward to now. I’m a 22 year employee of UPS, a wedding photographer and family man. I coach little league and mentor kids in reading. Never got in trouble again. I decide not too long ago to try and get my mugshots because wouldn’t that be funny? I emailed the Mass. State Police requesting them and was informed they can’t release them because the case is still open. I’ve decided to hire a lawyer and get it cleared up if possible but I’m wondering what I’m looking at as far as what happens generally in this type of case.
