Mo - Hospital Investigation Running Long

My wife had some mishaps during a surgery that a few different doctors said would have happened by not paying attention (tool burn mark on chest, intubation caused a hole to be poked in her throat). With that we requested an investigation and they took it very seriously at first. This was in October. Now we’ve received 3 letters since the investigation started saying the investigation will wrap in 30 days and they will contact us. We are afraid they are trying to ignore it. Our goal is to simply have our bill covered if they are found negligent. Just curious if it is worth finding a lawyer to chat with for free or small amount to see if they can help us.
