Mom Put My Name As A Cosigner On Her Car Without Consent

My mother purchased a new car January of 2024, she has a history of substance abuse and all the things that come with it including skipping out on her bills. She is also a compulsive liar even without the drugs so when she asked if I would cosign I immediately said no. Flash forward to August she lets me know she got in a wreck and would need me to speak with the insurance company, I'm immediately confused because again I to my knowledge have no connection to this car and I wasnt present for the accident. Turns out not only was the car in both of our names but the insurance on the car was in my name only with her listed as an authorized driver. She apparently let the insurance lapse so the damage to the other vehicle was obviously not covered and she has been dodging everyone involved in the situation. I received a letter yesterday informing me they are suing to have my license revoked and trying to put me on the hook for the cost of damages to the other car. How can I get out of this? Is there a way I can get my name removed from the car? Do I need to file identity theft charges against my mother in order to do so?

I'll add we are in NC, she has not made a payment on the car in God knows how long and from what I've been told the car is at an impound lot although the bill was supposedly paid for her to pick it up two months ago but no one has seen the car sense her accident.
