My Apartment Complex Has Not Given My Apartment Door Room Key To Lock My Bedroom Despite Asking For It Several Times. They Keep Giving Me Ones They Know Don't Work Or Waving Me Off. What Can I Do? + Other Questions

Just for starters, I live in Michigan, specifically East Lansing. I've been in my apartment since beginnings of August 2024 (this year) and currently I'm still residing here. Before I say anything further, I will give a little context. East Lansing is a college town and I was looking for a place with cheap rent, chose a place, waited for move in day, all as normal.

On move in day, I was not given my apartment building key (which doubles as my key for my apartment), my mail key and my room key. When I asked about it, they kept insisting that they gave them to me and ignored me until someone redirected me with the property manager and they programmed a key fob for my apartment building and sent me away. It took about almost two months of constant asking and prodding that I finally got a mail key, which clearly and did not work as they knowly handed me one with the wrong number. It took 3 tries to get a proper working mail key.

Now for the my main question, it's been 5 months since then and I still haven't received my Bedroom key, I keep getting shooed away or told that they're working on them. I work from home and I also have, of course, all my valuables in my room which is really worrying when I know that I don't have the ability to lock it. Despite living in a college town and asking to be roomed with people of similar age, I share the apartment with someone who is MUCH older and while that is not an issue, I believe that said person has tried to at least enter my room once. It's extremely uncomfortable interacting with them and all that put together makes just want to be able to lock my room when I'm away.

Is there anything I can do like change the locks and inform them, or pressure them into giving me a key? They've ignored me for the month of November when I emailed them.

If anyone has any questions or needs more info, please let me know, I just want to know what my options are here. Thankfully moving out upcoming August.
