My Bf’s Ex-wife Is Having Their Kids Ask Him To Sign A Lease With Her Because She Can’t Afford It

My boyfriend’s ex-wife seems to be trying to do anything to get him to sign an apartment lease with her because she can’t afford it on her own. She insisted on living in an expensive city and the person who co-signed with her before is out of the picture now.

She called last week trying to tell him she spoke to the landlord and he can sign the lease but then be taken off it a few days later, so she can stay and he won’t be liable for the rent. She also told him he had to decide by close of business that day otherwise he will be putting her and their kids out on the street. (It gave him an hour to make the decision.)

Today my boyfriend has been receiving text and voice messages from his kids. She’s having them reach out to him saying “please sign the lease, dad.”

Setting aside how absurdly ridiculous his ex-wife is behaving and manipulating her children, is there any thing he can do legally do? She’s getting increasingly desperate because her lease ends at the end of the month and she has no plan.
