My Boss Docked Pay For Breaks I Never Took
For context, this is happening in Houston, Texas
I recently noticed that in TeleMapper (the app we have to use to clock in), an hour was taken out for a meal break I never took. When I brought this up to my boss, she said “Hey X, the break gets taken out regardless! it is law to take lunch break.” Which I know isn’t true, because I’ve worked at other places that only has optional 10min breaks. I know in Texas, it is not required for employers to offer breaks, but if they say you need to take one, you take one. The problem is, never not once were breaks being required mentioned, only that “employees qualify for a lunch break every day,” so I have never taken any breaks.
Is this even legal? I signed an arbitration contract, so if it is, could I even sue about it? Or do I just have to accept this
