My Boss Entered My Hotel Room When I Was In Undressed Without My Permission.
I'm really not sure how to deal with this because I work for a really small company without an HR department.
To give the background, I am a woman, my boss is a man, and we went to a business trip together for a few days for a conference.
When we were checking in, the lobby gave us two keys like usual, and my boss suggested we exchange the spare key of the other person's room for an emergency, and I didn't think much of that and thought it was probably good idea.
And, on the second night, I was up late doing something, and I was undressed on the bed with my headphones on.
And, I felt something moving, and it was my boss standing right by the foot of the bed.
I freaked out and screamed, and asked him what he was doing.
And, he said that he needed to grab a file I took from our vendor earlier that day to check something urgently, and he assumed that I'd be sleeping and didn't want to wake me up. And, apparently, he knocked quietly to see if I'm awake and entered thinking I was sleeping because I didn't answer.
But, even if he thought I was sleeping, I feel like he shouldn't have entered without my permission and should have woke me up if it was an emergency.
I feel mortified and embarrassed about what happened, and I am mad about what happened. But, I really don't know what to do because we don't really have an HR, and also we did exchange the spare keys for emergency.
What do I do? And, what steps can I take, and how do things work in situations like this?
Thank you for your advice.
