My Ceiling Leaks Every Time It Rains. I Am A Renter In Sc.

My lease began in August, 2024. The ceiling of my bedroom leaks during anything above very light rain. This is not the only issue I have dealt with while renting this house, but is the focus of this post.

There was visible water damage and what looked like mold on the ceiling when I moved in, but I did not make any complaint about it.

The first time it leaked was in late September, when Hurricane Helene roared through and devastated basically the entire Southeast. At that time, I did alert the landlord of the leaking, and they told me a roofer would be out soon, but they either did a poor job or never showed up, because it still leaks, and is doing so as I type this. I do have video evidence.

Due to a busy semester and personal issues, I did not do anything further to address this, but am now ready to resolve this problem. At this time I am looking to know what rights I have and if I am entitled to any compensation.
