My Father Has Been Paying The Water And Sewage For Two Houses.

My dad has been paying the water and sewage at our old house and we’ve been living here at the new one for three months. Our old home owners we were renting from needed to move back into their home and they were already sketch, didn’t give us the 60 days we needed, the property managers gave us that but through an “extension” when legally they needed to give us 60 days. That’s another story, but today I wanted to talk about how they’ve been taking advantage of the lack of their own water and sewage bill they had to pay. Wouldn’t they have noticed? There’s no way they wouldn’t think to let us know when they have my parents phone numbers. Is there not a way to sue them for this? Or demand compensation? Is this a matter of negligence on our end or would the home owners complacency with the situation create grounds for us to sue? Wouldn’t they also have to start their water and sewage when moving back into their home? They should’ve known this from the start.
