My Grandmother Passed Away And I Received A Piece Of Mail From Her Former Employer.
As the title states, my grandmother passed away but during the 2 years I took care of her she never mentioned anything about life insurance, I received a piece of mail from her former employer but I don't know what it means. Could someone knowledgeable please interpret what this means for me please? It reads as follows:
"This is a summary of the annual report of AmPlan, The Amtrak Union Benefits Plan For Retired Employees.(Followed by her EIN and plan number) for the plan year 01/01/2023- 12/31/2023. The annual report has been filed with the Employee Benefits Security Administration, as required under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974(ERISA).
National Railroad Passenger Corporation has committed itself to pay certain medical claims incurred under the terms of the plan.
The plan has an insurance contract with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company to pay certain life claims incurred under the terms of the plan. The total premiums paid for the plan year ending 12/31/2023 were $428,553."
