My Hoa Is Out Of Control

Long story short, my HOA is extremely shady and increasing the prices exponentially.

I live in Colorado and my HOA as of January 1 has raised the HOA fee to $500 a month. They replaced the roofs of the townhomes also in July of 2024 and charged us around 3.5k (I will find the exact amount if it helps) It has made our monthly payment upwards of $850. Back in October 2024 they held a budget board meeting and invited members to come out and speak their peace. Both During the board meeting, they told my wife that because they did not have enough votes so they wouldn’t bother taking a tally of people who object to the new budget plan. When asked why the prices increased so much they told us it’s because of the price of insurance. They then told us that they didn’t have an exact number on the figure during the board meeting for the budget. On December 1, 2024 they revealed that the new price increase from $360 to $500 for the HOA. It was later revealed that during the initial assessment for the roof to be replaced the company replacing the roof only checked two out of the 31 units. One of which was the HOA president‘s unit. The amenities that are offered in our townhome complex is two tennis courts, which are badly maintained tons of cracks in the pavement. A pool that was down for a month of its season due to a water heater being busted, but then they took forever to get replaced and cost us even more. And last, but not least a clubhouse that we are required to rent out if we want to use it in any way shape or form. They take care of our trash and water which is then roped into the HOA fee. They also pay for snow removal and landscaping, but they cut down both trees in my front yard, and I have yet to see the snow removed this winter in a timely fashion. They were once outside removing snow at 11:30 at night and ended up waking up my son. They told us in their most recent board meeting to expect an increase in our monthly payment starting January 1 due to insurance again, but when talking with my own insurance, if I were to then cover the outside of my house, my insurance would only increase by $150. I’m not sure what to do anymore or if there’s anything I can even do if anyone can offer advice I’d greatly appreciate it.
