My House And Car Was Shot By A Drunk Driver.
My wife and I were startled by a loud crash out front of our home three weeks ago. Upon running outside to see what happened, I find a wrecked car 20 feet from our home in the street. The driver, extremely drunk, still has his foot on the gas, trying to escape. He hit 7 cars on our street before finally totaling his car. I was taking pictures of his license plate when he got out of his car and started yelling. I retreated back to my front door and started recording the situation on my phone. He started threatening myself and the neighbors that were now outside from the commotion. He then pulls out a gun, yelling treats, and fires two shots. One of which hits my car, the other, the side of my house. Eventually he is tackled by police and taken into custody. This event has completely turned our families life upside down. The one shot hit the wall where are baby was on the other side. My wife, who is already dealing with postpartum stress, is understandably terrified. It’s to the point now where we are staying at an in-laws house. I don’t know what to do. We are fighting about moving outside the city to a safer area. My question is, can I sue this guy for damages and the trauma/stress it is now causing our family? What type of lawyer deals with this stuff? I live in Pennsylvania if that helps. I have never dealt with anything like this before. Also, there is video evidence of this entire ordeal. Thanks in advance
