My Husband Is In Trouble Because Of Me

My husband was arrested after my uncle’s funeral. I reside in the state of Illinois, but had my gun at my sister’s home ( she holds a concealed to carry with no kids). She asked me to come to her house to get my gun because her God kids was coming over for a few days so I told her to bring it with her to the funeral so I wouldn’t have to travel to her home ( the funeral wasn’t too far from my home). I placed it in my glove compartment. A friend of mine called me so we went to down the street to talk to him while the car was still running. The police came and asked my husband for his license and our insurance. I have both of us on the insurance even though the vehicle is in my name. They informed us, we were parked my a fire hydrant. We proceeded to pull off after showing them what they requested. The officer blocked us in and told us to get out of the vehicle.

We got out of the vehicle and they started searching my car. They found my gun in my glove compartment. I informed the officer that is was my gun and informed him that it was a transport (which is why it was in the glove compartment). The crazy part about this is that my husband didn’t know it was in the glove compartment.

After presenting my food card and telling the officer it was my gun and my car, he told me he was putting the gun on my husband and arrested him, in the list of it all, I proceeded to call our family attorney. The officer snatched my phone, and purse and threw them in my car. He passed me my state ID and pulled off in my car while his partner pulled off with my husband.

The next morning I went to court and requested for my husband to receive house arrest. The judge said he shouldn’t be around any guns due to a felony charge he got when he was 17 years old (it was a cocaine charge) he told me it was three bags he was holding for a friend, he’s 40 years old now.

I reported the officers to police accountability and requested the offers body cameras. They turned their cameras off so my report was transferred to the Bureau of Internal Affairs.

My husband is still on house arrest 3 months later. I claimed my gun and vehicle doing the search, but the officers refused to listed to me. His last court date was in October, so the judge made his next court date for January 6, 2025.

What can I do to help my husband out of this mess? I have his new judge email address, but don’t know what to send her. Unfortunately, I couldn’t move forward with our family attorney because he wants 10,000. We gave him 1500 to show up to court, but didn’t realize it would cost us 3,200 to get the car back with other bills we needed to pay.

What can I do about this? What should I email the judge? Also, the officer who searched my vehicle was not showing up to court. He was sending his rookie partner. The judge asked the officer who the car was registered to and the officer said the defendant. That was a lie under oath. The car is registered to me and so is the gun. I’m confused, please help me, TIA
