My Job Is Trying To Withhold My Earned Bonus

I signed a 2 year bonus contract with my now (as off 1/31/25) old job. It is a retro pay system. I was scheduled to receive my payments every 6 months. I received my first 3 bonus without problem. I have overheard numerous people say the company is trying to hold their bonuses throughout the time I was there.

They have offered a different contract to other new employees since my hire date. On these new contracts they added a clause that any “corrective actions” would cause a problem with your bonus. Nowhere in my contract is this clause stated. My contract is bare bones (I have a copy of it) and they are now trying to say i will not be receiving my bonus because of a “corrective action”

I have no corrective actions against me. There was one glitch in the system that said I did not complete an E Learning assignment but I did. I refused to sign the corrective action and wrote a note at the bottom as to why I did not sign it (I have a copy of this too). The issue was looked into and it was never counted against me.

My contract was 1-16-23 to 1-16-25. I worked the day of the 16th and 17th. I put my 2 weeks in on the 17th so I completed the entire 2 years.

My managers have been supporting me the whole time but HR has not been helpful.

I reached out weeks ago about my bonus too. I had always received my bonus on the paycheck right after my bonus date. This time it was not on my check. So I reached out to HR. They sent me an email back (I have printed on the hospital letterhead) stating that “bonuses will be paid on the last check of the month.” So I waited until the 31st. That morning my check hit but my bonus didn't. I immediately went to HR and they have been absolutely no help saying that I didn't get it because I had a corrective and “it's a decision that needs to be okayed by the higher ups”

At this point we are into February. My bonus was legally agreed to be paid in January. I am curious if this is something worth pursuing/ do I have a case.
