My Mom’s Husband Let Her Starve To Death

My mom (65) passed a few weeks ago and we just got back the death certificate. Her cause of death is listed as malnutrition.

I hadn’t seen my mom in person for a while, but we talked and texted frequently. I know she had an eating disorder in the 80’s before I was born, but there was nothing indicating she was having any issues now.

She was a fully functioning adult before this, remarried for over 10 years and her husband never informed me or my siblings that she was having any issues either. He’s been tight lipped about things but there’s no indication he took her or tried to take her to get any kind of treatment.

I understand she was an adult and ultimately made her own choices, but he was with her everyday and this seems like neglect. Does her husband not have any criminal or civil liability here for letting her starve to death??
